Computer Generation III

Third Generation Computer 1964-1971

The Integrated Circuit or (semiconductor chip), was the new technology in the evolution of computers.  The Third Generation Computers was build with a integrated circuit which packed multiple transistors in a small silicon chip.  This Integrated Circuit increased efficiency in computers and lowered the cost.

“Robert Noyce of Fairchild Corporation and Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments independently discovered the amazing attributes of integrated circuits.”

Punchcards and printouts were replaced with keyboards and monitors.  The integrated circuit allowed computers to have a more advance operating system allowing it to perform multiple tasks at once.

The new advances in computers made them more affordable and accessible to a mass audiences.
